Joel is perhaps the most likeable, fun and interesting person we know. His spare time is filled with the breeding of Orchid Mantises (he’s a past President of the UK Mantis Association), climbing, mountain biking, self-sufficient gardening and Afrobeat music.

His postgraduate degree left him with some impressive pub stories too. Joel’s life-long love of elephants lead to him studying their habitat preferences for his thesis in southern Africa (they like grassland with some trees and access to plenty of water). Whilst there, he also rode ostriches and accidentally emptied Durban’s main water dam causing a week long water shortage (he pulled a plug out on some incorrect advice).

In amongst everything else, he’s cultivated 10 years experience in creative development; at Yucca Joel creates beautifully crafted HTML pages for our sites which often incorporate his JavaScript and Flash magic.
