22/07/10 - Yucca camping 2010

The team head west for the annual campfest
The Yucca team all headed to Mortehoe, near Woolacombe in North Devon this weekend for our annual camping trip.
Foreboding skies intimidated us all as we headed down the M5. Last year’s trip was an 80 mile an hour wind affair with horizontal rain so we were all nervous of a re-run. However, we escaped with relatively short showers on Friday evening and sun on Saturday.
A day on the beach beckoned, and I gave Paul some long-promised surf lessons - unfortunately the waves were a bit rubbish (2ft onshore slop), but Paul did his best to grab a few. Ben T showed off a few mellow moves in the tricky conditions, as did Jim.
Everyone experienced sun burn on unusual body parts, including the tops of arms, necks and knees. It was then food in the pub for everyone and back to camp Yucca where the Coleman Event Shelter was still standing (for the last two years our gazebo’s have collapsed in the wind by 1am on Sunday).
Karl, Ingo and Owen kept us all amused with some good jamming on the guitar and ukulele with enthusiastic covers of the Yucca classic ‘Atmosphere’ by Russ Abbot and Britney’s ‘Hit me Baby’.
All in, a fab weekend, everyone was a bit quiet on Monday though.
