Retro rock Sepultura hits Bristol

Brian and I headed along to an awesome evening of Brazilian thrash metal last night.

Sepultura were packing out stadiums in the late 90’s, so to see them at the Bristolian cradle of all things rock, the Bierkeller, really was a treat.

In attendance were a fascinating demographic of aging rockers. It wasn’t like the old days where I could comfortably mosh for a whole set but, together with my long-haired Yucca colleague, we tried a few in a row.

Post mosh, we rung our t-shirts out - it was that sweaty - the mark of a great metal gig.

Retro rock T-shirts everywhere bulged to contain the more rotund attendees, but what a night. The band had a great attitude and clearly were loving wowing the crowd with catchy rock titles such as ‘Biotech is Godzilla’, ‘Roots Bloody Roots’ and ‘Slaves of Pain’.

The mild whiplash I’ve been experiencing since the gig is a familiar feeling, not experienced in a while.

I’m off now to buy some new gas for my carameliser to flambé a crème brûlée I’m preparing for later.
